Brief Posting Description

Captains are directly responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. Captains report directly to the Chief Pilot and are the final authority in the operation of the aircraft while acting as pilot-in-command. Captains must ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and with company policies and procedures specified in the company Operations Manual.

Pilot

Hiring Salary Range: $81,000-102,000

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assumes direct responsibility for the safe conduct of flights to which he/she is assigned.

  • Complies with all Federal, State and Local regulations and with company policies and procedures specified in the company Operations Manual.

  • Complies with schedules and other directives governing aircraft operation.

  • Acts as pilot-in command of flights to which he/she is scheduled as Captain.

  • Makes pre-flight inspections.

  • Studies weather conditions at destination airports, en route, alternate airports and departure points.

  • Prepares and files flight plans.

  • Reviews and calculates the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts. Uses checklists.

  • Makes decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel the flight, or deviate from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.

  • Adhere to and demonstrate compliance with appropriate electric utility industry regulatory requirements. Attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of development in regulations, laws, standards and best practices applicable to the functional area including, but not limited to, Standards of Conduct, Environmental, Employment Law, NERC Reliability Standards and Safety. Must be familiar with, and comply with, all aspects of Corporate Policy C-54, Compliance.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training

  • Commercial pilot rating.

  • Current FAA second-class medical certificate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Working knowledge of the entire field of aviation.

  • Ability to lead others.

Experience:

  • Flight experience minimums as follows:

  • 1500 hours total flight time in fixed wing aircraft.

  • 1000 hours of pilot-in-command in multi-engine aircraft.

  • 500 hours in model operated by Tri-State.

  • Extensive experience in high density altitude operations and mountain flying.

  • Completion of manufacturer's or other professionally conducted "initial" training curriculum for the aircraft assigned.

  • Current biennial flight review status.

  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is exposed to loud noises, vibrations, occasional fumes, dust, and chemicals. Incumbent is occasionally working in confined areas, exposed to electrical risks, and required to operate corporate aircraft related machinery and equipment. Incumbent occasionally is exposed to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
