Job Description:
Understands and is proficient at all basic tasks regarding basic trouble shooting, repairing and maintaining most/all surface mining equipment used on site, performing these job duties in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:
Understands and is proficient at all basic tasks including equipment PM?s, tire removal and installation, lubrication practices, basic welding skills, and basic equipment component repair as required in assigned areas.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnoses, and makes repairs with minimal assistance.
Completes job related paperwork accurately and is familiar with required computer use including AS6 and MineStar.
Must recognize hazards and other conditions and plan for them.
Understand lockout/tagout, safety procedures and area cleanliness.
Produce consistent good quality work.
Understand mechanical systems and is qualified for the Mechanic Technician III position.
Possesses knowledge of high voltage areas and understands hazards and procedures around working in these areas.
Knowledge of engines, transmissions, drive-trains, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems and cutting/welding concepts and procedures.
Adhere to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) standards, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
Safety: Maintain safety awareness and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures to assure a safe working environment. Properly wear and care for applicable safety gear and equipment. Identify and communicate unsafe conditions to supervisor, coworkers, and the Safety functional area and correct or assist in resolving safety concerns and issues. Must understand and comply with the Clearance Procedure as applicable.

Responsible for keeping Maintenance Operator Task Certificates (5023 forms) and/or hazard training current on small and large equipment.
Can accurately formulate a parts list for any job and effectively use computer system to generate work orders, order parts, research component history with working knowledge of warehouse and computer system.
Provide basic tools to perform maintenance on equipment
Must be able to satisfactorily complete related company training programs.
Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Vocational training and previous experience as mechanic, preferred
Practical knowledge of surface mining operations
Familiar with all maintenance equipment and has advanced skills with welding, hoisting, lifting and blocking practices.
Strong organizational and communication skills
Must be able to satisfactorily complete company training programs
