Brief Posting Description
The Mine Controller is a member of the mine leadership team that is responsible for gathering, tracking, reporting and analyzing finances and expenditures at Colowyo Coal Company (CCC). This position is the lead for all accounting and financial functions conducted at CCC and serves as liaison to Tri-State for such functions.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Promotes CCC safety culture and leads by example.
Leads and manages accounting and financial functions.
Leads the month end reporting process, establishes deadlines, complete variance analysis, reporting to Tri-State and reports all follow up queries.
Manages transactional general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals and provisions, cash and non-cash accounting.Complex financial accounting: consolidation, equity accounting, and financial statement.
Manages mine financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
Supervises finance team, including procurement manager and accounting administrative assistant.
Coordinates department cost budgeting and tracking.
Develops presentations for and leads monthly cost meetings.
Leads the development of the monthly mine operations report, including cost variance analysis.
Coordinates with and provides timely financial information to the mine leadership team members to ensure operational decisions are made in a cost effective manner.
Understands and promotes process improvement and change initiatives.
Completes annual property tax reporting to appropriate county entities.
Completes other assignments, as required, to meet business needs.
Adhere to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) standards, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
Safety: Maintain safety awareness and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures to assure a safe working environment. Properly wear and care for applicable safety gear and equipment. Identify and communicate unsafe conditions to supervisor, coworkers, and the Safety functional area and correct or assist in resolving safety concerns and issues. Must understand and comply with the Clearance Procedure as applicable.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce or business related field.
Minimum of 10 years related experience, with 5 years at the supervisory level.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to give presentations to a diverse audience.
High initiative and ability to consistently deliver quality and accurate work.
Ability to multitask and complete duties with complex issues.
Practical knowledge of mining operations, preferred.
Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Suite and accounting software.
Valid driver's license.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach above and below shoulder level and push/pull objects of varying weights, and lift up to twenty-five pounds. Incumbent is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk and hear.
Mental demands: While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to read, write, perform basic math, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, and present information to others and work under pressure.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is exposed to a moderate level of noise. All of the duties are performed indoors and at a desk, operating office equipment.

Hiring Annual Wage: $108,899 to $136,123
