POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for planning, developing, and conducting Operations, Maintenance and Engineering technical training programs and courses in support of all power plant and facilities functions and procedures. Includes assisting management with the analysis and identification of employee learning and development needs and leading classroom facilitation through the presentation of lessons, discussions, practice activities, assessments, and other learning strategies.

Senior IC&E Learning Facilitator

Hiring Annual Wage: $100,000 to $123,000

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, develop, administer and conduct plant and mining Operations, Maintenance and Engineering training, including step programs, apprenticeship programs, special training, and other learning and development needs as determined by management.

  • Assist management by collaborating with plant and mining personnel and other key stakeholders to analyze and identify employee learning and development needs as well as available learning resources to make appropriate recommendations.

  • Lead the classroom facilitation and monitor participant learning through the presentation of lessons, discussions, practice activities, assessments, and other learning strategies. Explore ways to improve cost effectiveness and learning outcomes.

  • Assist Instructional Designers as subject matter expert (SME) in the design and development of learning solutions.

  • Assist Instructional Designers to develop technical content for facilitator guides, participant guides, e-learning materials, and other supporting materials.

  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating internal and external technical and safety training activities as well as with providing Tri-Learning tracking documentation.

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Learning and Development budget by providing timely input of forecasted expenses.

  • Prepare reports and support special projects as required.

  • Adhere to and demonstrate compliance with appropriate electric utility industry regulatory requirements. Attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of development in regulations, laws, standards and best practices applicable to the functional area including, but not limited to, Standards of Conduct, Environmental, Employment Law, NERC Reliability Standards and Safety. Must be familiar with, and comply with, all aspects of Corporate Policy C-54, Compliance.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or similar technical discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Equivalent experience may include coal fired power plant experience, or similar industry experience, in one of the following disciplines: Instrumentation and Control, Electrical, Planning, Engineering, Mechanical, Power Plant Operations and/or Maintenance or learning and development/training. Coal fired power plant, or similar industry, operations and maintenance experience may include apprentice through journey level experience, depending on level of position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Knowledge of various effective learning and development methods and techniques.

  • Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups and individuals.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all personnel and maintains high levels of communication with management and stakeholders.

  • Ability to record, track, and report employee training records.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to complete multiple projects while staying focused on quality, deadlines, budget expectations, and business results.

  • Proficient project management skills and the ability to organize, plan, and deliver results effectively.

  • Excellent technical writing skills and use of creative messaging design principles (use of language, grammar, spelling, and organizing content to achieve desired outcomes).

  • Strong presentation and classroom facilitation skills.

Experience:

  • Eight (8) years of directly related experience in power plant, or similar industry, operation, planning, engineering and/or maintenance.

  • Experience prioritizing, organizing, planning and coordinating work activities.

  • Experience with learning management systems and the ability to record, track, and report employee training records.

  • Experience with producing documents, training materials, and records using a variety of computer business software applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat PDF, and others as needed.

  • Experience with operating office equipment such as computers, projectors, printers, copy machines, and fax machines.

Other:

  • Willingness to travel as required. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
